Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a part-time substantive Consultant Psychiatrist and share a fantastic oppertunity to join a post based in Bury, Manchester. The service here operates in a sectorised model and is staffed by 2 wte sector Consultants in Older People Psychiatry, with this further 0.6 WTE Consultant providing additional support to clinics and the care home liaison service. Outpatient clinics are supported by a Junior Doctor (NW Deanery training schemes), along side GP plus trainees
This is an exciting time to join the Trust and there are many opportunities to contribute to the organisations’ development and to look at service redesign models. Bury has a very strong teaching commitment and candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical and nursing staff and 4th year medical students. There are close links with ongoing research projects. The Consultants contribute to local service user & carer groups.

Main duties of the job
To provide high-quality Mental Health Care for older people with severe and enduring mental health problems in outpatient clinics.
To work closely with other teams and Consultants to ensure coherent and high-quality mental health care for older people with severe and enduring mental health problems within the Bury area.
To work with the other Consultants to support the development of the service, and to attend local and divisional service development meetings.
Applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion or be within six months’ of the anticipated award of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Older People Psychiatry at the time of interview for the post.

Required Criteria and Qualifications
Essential criteria
* MBChB or equivalent
* Must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be eligible to be on the GMC Specialist Register
* Higher psychiatric training or its equivalent.
* Section 12 (2) Approval under Mental Health Act 1983 or be eligible for approval. Approved Clinician status (or eligible for same)
* Evidence of teaching and training abilities
* Commitment to share the work of the department with colleagues
Desirable criteria
* Possession of MRCPsych or equivalent qualification. Other postgraduate degrees e.g. MSc, MD, MRCP etc
* Possession of CCT or be within 6 months of achieving this
* CCT in Older Adult Psychiatry
* Experience in detention of patients under The MHA (1983)
* Experience of writing reports for the Mental Health Review Tribunals
* Current or past educational supervisor of a basic trainee and a specialist registrar
* Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
* Evidence of leading the development of services elsewhere
