Main Purpose of the Role
As a Planning Surveyor based at our modern Manchester offices, you will be part of the Acquisition & Planning team. This technical SME role involves managing delivery activities related to securing planning rights necessary for Mitie projects, including MNO customer projects (upgrades, replacements, new sites), and specialist projects involving Solar PV and EV solutions. The Planning Surveyor will work across multiple client programmes, requiring teamwork and technical expertise in planning activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct site surveys and planning appraisals to facilitate project delivery.
* Prepare and manage planning applications throughout the entire process.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to provide technical advice and insights using expert planning knowledge.
* Research and analyze trends affecting project progression, perform feasibility studies, and ensure regulatory compliance.
* Work with local authorities, developers, and community stakeholders.
* Analyze network performance data and identify improvement areas.
* Prepare planning reports and documentation.
* Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
* Provide technical support to junior team members.
Key Attributes
We seek candidates with excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, negotiation, and networking skills. An interest in legal matters, policies, and procedures, along with a creative approach to problem-solving, is essential. Candidates should have good commercial awareness, understanding of the telecom sector, and proficiency in IT and relevant software. Business management skills are also desirable.
