Radiotherapy Department Assistant Band 3
Join us as a Radiotherapy Department Assistant at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, part of the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust. This role supports clinical staff in the care and administration of patients undergoing radiotherapy across our main site in Guildford and a satellite site at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill.
Job Summary
As a base level clinical support professional, you will work under the direct supervision of the Brachytherapy Operational Manager and collaborate with other department managers. You will provide practical and emotional support to patients and carers, assist with clinic operations, and support administrative duties.
Responsibilities
* Provide practical support to patients and carers during visits.
* Assist in clinical duties related to running clinics and supporting theatre sessions.
* Chaperone patients, restock supplies and locate patient documentation.
* Assist with administrative duties relating to clinics, radiotherapy and CT scanning.
* Participate in supporting staff and students.
* Work flexibly to meet the demands of the role, including occasional coverage at the satellite site.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
* Good standard of general education to A-level.
* GC(S)E/English Language Grade C or above.
* GC(S)E/Mathematics Grade C or above.
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
* Confident standard of computer literacy (training will be provided).
* Aware of legislation relating to radiation safety, Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality.
* Ability to be physically capable of standing and assisting in moving patients.
* Must hold or be able to obtain the Trust’s Care Certificate within 3 weeks.
Desirable
* Previous NHS experience.
* Understanding of NHS administrative systems.
* Understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues.

Salary: £26,240 to £27,928 a year (pro rata) including High Cost Area Supplement
