Guaranteed basic starting salary £37,720.80 per annum.

Permanent role, ongoing progression encouraged with associated skill structure pay increases, overtime at enhanced rates, plus additional standard monthly bonuses paid each month.


Introduction:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineering Technician - Paint & Assembly to join our growing friendly team at Niftylift. The role is based at our state of art manufacturing facility in Hoyland, Barnsley.

The Production Engineering Technician - Paint & Assembly Role requires team players to work within the Production Engineering Team to provide technical support for Production Shotblast, Painting and Assembly processes and systems to assess, analyse and develop Continuous Improvement opportunities and the cost-effective method of value-added production output.

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Provide technical support to production to ensure shotblast, paint lines and manual assembly operate effectively and efficiently.
* Conduct accurate value stream mapping with time studies to support accurate labour and capacity planning, with true process costings to ensure accurate product costing.
* Conduct investigations into process variation, understanding and implementing corrective and preventative actions to maintain a stable process.
* Review material condition and provide detailed analysis of additional costs for steel surface preparation, to enable accurate decisions to be made for the covered storage of raw material and fabrications.
* Liaise with maintenance and contractors to identify what servicing and maintenance is required to ensure the plant and equipment is optimised and increases the longevity of the plant.
* Document all parts of the process, handling and TPM's through standard operating procedures, works instructions and how to guides.
* Support the continuous improvement of Health & Safety and Environmental targets, liaising with the Environmental Health & Safety Officer to test and project manage the implementation of improvements.
* Conduct audits on operator TPM's to ensure the correct level of equipment care is being carried out to prolong the life cycle of the equipment and ensure product quality is maintained.
* Review and develop specific training plans for the team, identify must have skills for each of the process steps, liaising with the Team Leaders to hand over for implementation
* Review options to change the layout of the process, exploring painting methods to significantly reduce time, application, prep and baking times.
* Explore "bolt on" automation options for both blast and paint. Provide costs and return on investment analysis.
* Review the Assembly process, map the current process and identify NVA or under-utilisation of labour, make recommendations for improvement. Including layout to optimise floor space, line side stock feeding etc.
* Support the NPI Team with new part or Engineering Change validation for the painting and assembly of product.
* Review packing methods to reduce the risk of transport damage, improve safe methods of loading, transporting and unloading product.
* Build a strong investment strategy to maximise the benefits of any future investment in plant and equipment, including robotics or other mechanical automation.
* Calibration and use of tools and testing equipment for Shot blasting (sieve test), colour match equipment paint finish (X-rite), torque set tools etc for assembly.


Experience:

* Mechanical Engineering qualification - minimum HNC
* Experience of Paint preparation, painting process and product assembly essential.
* Experience of value stream mapping and process analysis preferable but not essential.
* Understanding of Environmental Health & Safety requirements of a painting process desirable but not essential
* Familiarity with testing and calibration of production and test equipment desirable but not essential


Working Hours & Salary:

* Hours will be 07:30 16:30 Monday Thursday & 07:30 13:30 Friday (40 hours per week)


Guaranteed basic starting salary £17.01 x 40 hours per week plus guaranteed minimum £45 per week bonus £37,720.80 per annum plus overtime paid at premium rates outlined below:


Level A Overtime paid at premium rate of £25.52 per hour (i.e. x 1.5).

Level B Overtime paid at premium rate of £34.02 per hour (i.e. x 2.0).


Monthly bonus aligned to business performance that equates to total bonus payments of £280-£350 per month on average guaranteed minimum £45 per week. (for reference only).
