That same instinct - to step in, add clarity and make things better - is exactly what I’m looking for in a new Quantity Surveying lead.
I’m working with a leading property consultancy searching for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to take the step into leadership. This is more than just running the numbers; it’s a chance to grow a team, expand a client base, and shape the QS function in their Birmingham office.
You’ll be leading a 10+ team of more junior Cost Managers with the support of two senior colleagues and reporting directly into the Regional Director. This is a role for someone who’s ready to take the reins - even if you haven’t had the job title before.
What’s on offer:
* Competitive Salary to reflect the responsibility, plus car and bonus (Salary on the advert is for an AD. There's scope for a Director to come in too on a higher starting wage)
* Hybrid working (typically 2–3 days in the office) with flexibility around client and site needs
* Professional memberships paid (1 body of your choice) and support towards Chartership if not already achieved
* Clear progression path from Associate Director to Director, with performance-based promotions
What you’ll be doing:
* Leading and developing the QS team in Birmingham
* Driving business growth, currently with a strong focus on the residential sector but they’re open to new sectors if that’s more what you know
* Delivering a mix of pre- and post-contract work across a variety of sectors, with opportunities in all sorts of areas
* Using your consultancy background to bring commercial rigour, client confidence and technical know-how (CostX/Revit experience a plus, with knowledge of NEC/JCT contracts desirable)
Who we’re looking for:
* 7–10+ years’ experience, ideally in consultancy
* Business development skills, with the ability to leverage networks and win work
* Strong residential experience, but a flexible approach across sectors
* A collaborative leader with the confidence to mentor and grow others
The culture is supportive and sociable (like sports and occasional socials) and you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary office of around 80 colleagues across project & cost management, design, planning, environment, and sustainability.
If you’re ready to step up, shape a team and put your own stamp on a high-performing consultancy, this could be the move that defines your career. Call Ed Collins on 0161 607 5084 or apply to this advert for the full details.
