Purpose of the Role The Product Sales Manager – Surface Ship Systems is responsible for managing and developing the Surface Ship Systems product portfolio and acting as the primary customer focal point for both UK and International Sales and Business Development activities. The role combines product strategy, sales leadership, bid management and customer engagement to drive order intake and long-term growth.
Key Accountabilities Win new business and contribute to Surface Ship Systems sales and Order Intake targets
Lead product development strategy, capture planning and major bid activities
Act as bid lead for large, complex opportunities, managing cross-functional teams
Grow and maintain a strong sales pipeline across UK and Export markets
Identify and assess market trends through customer engagement and insight
Input into future sales strategy and product requirements
Ensure sales governance processes are implemented and followed
Drive product standardisation and reuse across sales opportunities
Manage bid and product R&D budgets
Deliver against agreed personal and business targets
Key Challenges Working collaboratively with specialists across engineering, commercial, programme and support disciplines
Clearly communicating customer requirements, campaigns, sales activities and bid plans across the business
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Proven ability to integrate into and play a leading role within a Product Sales team
Broad commercial capability across sales, bid management, product development and business development
Highly motivated, hardworking, goal-driven and delivery focused
Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams delivering large, complex bids
Strong domain expertise and an established network within the UK MOD and/or international defence customers in one or more of the following areas:
Mine Countermeasures (MCM)
Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) and Workboats
Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) / Surface Ship Torpedo Defence (SSTD)
Hydrography
Surface Ship Signature Management
Port and Harbour Security
Combat System Integration
Modular Capability
Desirable Technical understanding of the ATLAS UK Surface Ships product portfolio
Ability to capture and manage product roadmaps using a range of software tools
