Overview
To provide a secretarial service to the consultants, senior stroke team and consultant secretaries, and to cover consultant secretaries during periods of absence, i.e. annual leave, sickness. To provide administrative support to the medical secretaries including answering telephone calls, taking comprehensive messages, filling, scanning and any other administrative duties required.
Responsibilities
* Support the consultants, senior stroke team and consultant secretaries in providing an efficient secretarial service. This will involve the typing of clinical correspondence, i.e. clinic letters, reports, etc., under the supervision of the consultant secretaries, using audio/Digital Dictation.
* Deal appropriately with telephone calls from GP surgeries, patients, medical staff, nursing staff, hospital departments, etc.
* Request notes from Medical Records or prepare medical records ensuring availability for consultants and other members of the medical team.
* Maintain, co-ordinate and organise appointments/meetings with staff, patients or their relatives.
* Work closely with the consultant secretaries, consultants and the senior stroke team to provide full administrative support.
* Provide administrative support to medical secretaries including answering telephones, taking messages, filing, scanning and any other administrative duties required.

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
