Overview
Learning Support Specialist - Special Educational Needs, complex needs and social, emotional mental health (SEMH) - to start September. A bespoke alternative provision school in central Birmingham is looking to appoint two new Learning Support Specialists for young people with SEMH needs.
The school caters for children in KS3 and KS4, offering a tailoring of the curriculum to each child’s needs. Roles may be temporary to permanent as the right candidates are appointed. Successful applicants will be nurturing, resilient and flexible, with the ability to adapt confidently to their surroundings.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside the class teacher and other Teaching Assistants to support students with everyday school life.
* Contribute to an engaging and varied curriculum, including vocational subjects, to meet individual student needs.
* Support positive behaviour, promote a safe learning environment, and collaborate effectively within a team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience supporting children and young people with SEMH needs and behaviours that challenge.
* Teaching and learning qualification would be ideal; however, appropriate candidates will be considered on an individual basis.
* Individuals with residential background or related experience may also be suitable.
