Residential Childcare Support Worker

Complex Health Needs / Learning Disability

** Recruitment ongoing due to new home just opened**

* £13.04-£13.54ph plus sleep in payments, plus overtime

The Belsteads Group currently comprises of three individual children's homes on a semi-rural, 11 acre site near Chelmsford.

We have 2 x homes that are uniquely designed to cater to children with learning disabilities, autism, and sensory needs. Every detail of these homes has been thoughtfully crafted to create an enriching and joyful environment where children can truly thrive.

We also have a 3rd home which has just opened specifically tailored to provide bespoke care for young people with physical disabilities and complex health needs.

Our children may have difficulties with mobility, manual dexterity, communication, physical coordination, memory, concentration, and/or continence as well as displaying som As a Support Worker you will ensure our children receive the specialized support they require to lead enriched and successful lives.

Every day is different, and our main aim is to ensure all our young people are happy and safe.

The role…

The welfare of our young people is central to everything we do. Support Workers not only ensure their safety but also contribute significantly to their care, learning, and development. This involves empowering young people to participate in their daily routines, develop independence skills, problem-solve, and stay safe, all while being mindful of their individual capabilities

As advocates for the children and young people in our care, Support Workers ensure that their views, wishes, and feelings are heard and respected. They also promote inclusivity by appreciating each child's individuality and diversity, ensuring equal opportunities, and preventing discrimination.

As a support worker you will play a vital part in providing the Young People we support with a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. Our mission is to safeguard the children and young people's potential, understanding that each child is unique.

You will help to implement and maintain clear and consistent boundaries necessary for the creation of a safe and secure environment for each child to flourish

We are looking for staff who are kind, caring, resilient and able to support young people in all areas including personal care where required.

Hours/shifts:

7.30am-8pm including a 30 minute PAID break - on average 3 x shifts per week for full time

You will need to be able to work every other weekend and take a share of sleep in duties - roughly once per week. (We have a separate waking night team who support the children during the night)

Full time hours are based on 37.5 pw (average 3 x shifts pw). We may be able to consider part time dependent on your availability. Unfortunately we are not usually able to consider just certain days of the week.

We normally work on a rolling rota basis so you should know your shifts well in advance and working an average of 3 shifts per week, you will have plenty of work/life balance However, there is usually extra shifts available that you can pick up across the homes if you wanted to work more hours.

What you will need to succeed:

* Experience supporting children/people with a learning disability or complex health needs is desirable, or transferrable experience from the care sector
* A passion for working with Young People
* Ability to work as part of a team with a caring, supportive attitude
* Reliability and responsibility
* Resilience
* Excellent communication skills
* Good command of English with the ability to write reports
* Enjoy a challenge
* Full valid UK driving license ( to drive our cars)
