Strategic Network Technician
Salary:£30,430 – £35,800 (depending on experience)
Location: Hexham, Northumberland
Employment type: Full‑time, 37 hours per week. Out‑of‑hours standby required.
About the role
We’re looking for a hands‑on, outdoor role that allows you to make a real impact. As a Strategic Network Technician you’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for maintaining our strategic network of reservoirs, pumping stations, large diameter water mains, and control valves. You’ll work across a variety of environments and weather conditions, including confined spaces when accessing underground assets, ensuring daily tasks remain varied and challenging.
Key responsibilities include:
* Inspect, maintain and repair network assets such as reservoirs, pumping stations, mains and control valves.
* Carry out field tests to ensure water quality and system integrity.
* Assist operational teams in different regions, maintaining high standards of health & safety and environmental protection.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours standby rota and travel regularly between operational sites.
About you
You are a team player who can also work confidently and independently. You have strong communication skills, a natural passion for problem‑solving and the ability to think on your feet. You are:
* Experienced in field‑based technical roles.
* Capable of working safely in confined spaces and around operational equipment.
* Willing to adapt to working both during and outside of normal hours.
* Holder of a full, valid UK driving licence.
We also encourage you to have a flexible approach, a positive attitude, and a desire to learn. Comprehensive training will be provided to enable safe, informed decision‑making on the network.
Discretionary DBS check required before employment.
