Overview
We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The ECU is a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
The successful candidate will be the strategic lead for the way we manage financial investigations to ensure we fulfill our obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). You will be proactive with a strong focus on continually improving and enhancing the way we work.
This is a hybrid role with flexible working from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is a central part of the role, and you will be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during incidents. Training and workplace adjustments will be provided to support you. Interviews will take place w/c 3rd November 2025.
Responsibilities
* Provide strong leadership to the ECU, managing two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer, and developing team performance and delivery.
* Act as the strategic lead for managing financial investigations and ensuring compliance with POCA obligations.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (police, National Crime Agency, HMRC) and influence senior stakeholders to align EA priorities with external enforcement efforts.
* Drive continual improvement of processes and guidance; share lessons learned and provide advice to enforcement officers nationwide.
* Support the wider organisation in understanding POCA legislation and contribute to technical documentation updates.
* Lead and develop a nationally dispersed team working with enforcement staff and partners to tackle serious and complex crime involving organised networks.
Experience / Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, preferably with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Strong understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in the law enforcement sector and understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Excellent communication, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritise a varied workload, and identify areas for improvement.
* Experience developing and enhancing the capability of a team and individuals within it.
