Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Contract | £600–£650/day | Hybrid (Southampton or Sutton)
Location: Grosvenor House (Southampton) or Sutton – 2 days in the office
Contract Length: 6 months (strong potential for extension)

Hours: 40 hours/week
Rate: £500–£550 per day (inside IR35)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic cross-functional team. You’ll play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and scaling our internal applications and production environments — ensuring performance, reliability, and innovation are at the core of everything we do.

Responsibilities
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support internal applications.
* Diagnose and resolve complex system performance issues.
* Improve system monitoring and reporting capabilities.
* Champion SRE best practices and influence technical direction.
* Implement and maintain IaaS solutions (AWS preferred).
* Utilize diagnostics tools (dumps, traces, etc.) to troubleshoot production issues.
* Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across teams.
Preferred Skills & Experience
* Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
* Deep technical expertise with Linux.
* Strong experience with Python and/or scripting languages (e.g., Bash).
* Proficiency with databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
* Proven experience designing and maintaining highly available AWS environments (VPCs, EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3).
* Strong grasp of security engineering and best practices.
* Advanced knowledge of CI/CD, configuration management (e.g., Puppet), and IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
* Experience with containerization (Docker on Linux).
* Monitoring enthusiast — hands-on with Grafana, Elastic, StatusCake, PagerDuty, or similar.
* Strong business awareness and ability to deliver on strategic goals.
Desirable Skills
* Agile delivery experience.
* Knowledge across Linux, networking, storage, and databases.
* Familiarity with security tooling and cloud-native architectures.
* Excellent communication — able to explain technical concepts clearly.
* Experience administering scalable, cloud-native applications.
