Belmont Recruitment are working with Nottinghamshire County Council to recruit an Appointee Officer to join the Adult Social Care team. This role plays a vital part in safeguarding vulnerable adults from financial abuse, helping them manage their income, and promoting independence and wellbeing.
This is a temporary contract for 6 months with a view to extend.
The Role

Undertake the Council’s delegated role of Appointee for individuals who lack capacity or are unable to manage their finances.

Apply for, collect, and manage people’s benefits and income, ensuring bills and care contributions are paid promptly.
*
Operate and reconcile bank accounts, carrying out regular audits to ensure compliance.
*
Make purchases on behalf of service users, ensuring financial procedures are followed.
*
Support people with complex needs, including mental health challenges and disabilities, to budget, manage claims, and maintain independence.
*
Provide interim arrangements for financial support where appeals or delays affect income.
*
Develop positive, strength-based relationships that empower individuals to make informed choices and remain independent in the community.
About You
*
Experience of managing or supporting vulnerable adults with financial matters.
*
Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and financial governance.
*
Organised, accurate and able to reconcile accounts.
*
Confident engaging with people with complex needs, self-neglect, or disabilities.
*
Knowledge of welfare benefits and entitlements is highly desirable.
