About This Role
This role provides leadership across two subject areas to ensure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment, resulting in strong student progress and attainment. The Curriculum Leader is accountable for developing and implementing a coherent curriculum and assessment framework that meets the needs of all learners and aligns with Trust and school expectations. The role includes line management of colleagues, supporting their development through coaching, mentoring and professional dialogue, and contributing to a positive team culture. The Curriculum Leader monitors performance, uses data to inform improvement, and ensures consistent application of school policies, including behaviour, safeguarding and inclusion. The role contributes to whole‑school and Trust priorities, supporting collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead teaching, learning and assessment within the subject area to secure strong outcomes for all students
* Develop and implement a coherent curriculum and assessment framework that supports progression for all learners
* Monitor and evaluate teaching and student outcomes using data and targeted intervention
* Line manage and develop colleagues through coaching, mentoring and professional development
* Model effective teaching practice and support improvement across the subject area
* Ensure consistent implementation of school policies, including behaviour, safeguarding, equality and health and safety
* Promote high expectations of behaviour, attendance and engagement, ensuring appropriate follow‑up
* Support inclusion by ensuring all students can access the curriculum and achieve their potential
* Contribute to whole‑school and Trust priorities, including improvement planning and collaboration
* Lead assessment processes, including moderation, standardisation and accurate reporting
* Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents and carers
* Contribute to departmental organisation, including recruitment, induction and enrichment activities
Ideal Candidate
* Qualified Teacher Status and a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area
* Experience of teaching at Key Stage 4 and evidence of continued professional development
* Experience of leading subject initiatives that have improved student outcomes
* Strong subject knowledge and understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
* Ability to evaluate teaching practice and implement approaches that improve outcomes
* Ability to use data to inform planning and drive improvement
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Ability to communicate effectively and build positive professional relationships
* Strong behaviour management skills and ability to promote high expectations
* Experience of supporting students’ pastoral needs and commitment to inclusion
* Leadership skills to support, motivate and develop colleagues
* Willingness to contribute to wider school life, including extra‑curricular activities
Contract Details
* Contract Type: Permanent
* Contract Term: Full‑Time
* Salary: £32,916.00 – £51,048.00 annually (FTE), plus TLR 1b £13,695 per annum depending on experience
* Working Hours: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (Mon‑Fri)
