Job Description:
The Department of Materials at Oxford University invites applications for the position of Departmental Lecturer in Materials Modelling, starting from 1st September 2025 or soon thereafter. The department specializes in interdisciplinary research on materials for a sustainable future, focusing on energy storage and conversion, theory and modelling, microstructural and nanoscale characterization, and materials processing.
This role primarily involves teaching and departmental support, with opportunities for research in mathematical and computational modelling of materials. The successful candidate will lead research activities, collaborate internally and externally, and provide small group tutorials (typically 2-3 students), mainly to Corpus Christi students.
The candidate will teach various materials science topics, especially those aligned with physics-oriented aspects of the field. Responsibilities include delivering undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, developing courses, supervising final-year undergraduate projects, and overseeing postgraduate research projects.
Requirements include a doctorate in materials science or a related field, a research track record with publications in materials modelling, and the ability to deliver undergraduate teaching. Queries should be addressed to Professor Pete Nellist, Head of Department. Applications must be submitted online via the Oxford University E-Recruitment system by 12 noon on Friday, 13 June 2025.
