The Role
As a Freelance Curriculum Writer, you will be responsible for developing structured, engaging, and compliant learning content across employability and skills programmes.
You’ll ensure all materials are aligned with industry expectations, regulatory standards, and learner needs—while maintaining a strong focus on engagement and progression.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing curriculum content in line with programme objectives and sector standards
* Producing schemes of work, lesson plans, and high-quality learner resources
* Aligning materials with Ofsted expectations and awarding body requirements
* Working closely with delivery teams and quality leads to ensure relevance and consistency
* Reviewing and enhancing existing content to maintain quality and engagement
* Embedding employability skills and progression pathways within learning materials
Ideal Candidate
You are an experienced curriculum professional with a strong track record in designing effective learning within the FE, skills, or employability sector.
You will bring:
* Proven experience in curriculum writing and instructional design
* Strong understanding of learner engagement strategies and structured programme development
* Experience creating schemes of work, lesson plans, and supporting resources
* Knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and education quality standards
* Excellent written communication and organisational capability
* The ability to work independently while collaborating with wider teams
Experience working with training providers, FE colleges, or employability programmes will be highly advantageous.
