The role involves acute care on various wards, rotations of six months across more than 11 clinical areas, and opportunities for in‑service training and professional development.
Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
This post is suitable for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist with experience, looking to widen their skill set and work in a wider variety of acute rotations than most hospitals offer. Rotations are six months each, covering specialties such as cancer care, cardiac, surgery, acute medical unit/ED, orthopaedics, neurology, stroke, paediatrics, medicine, and medicine for older people.
Essential Skills And Qualifications
* Qualified Occupational Therapist
* HCPC registered
* Careful, compassionate, and dignified care for patients
* Independent decision‑making and teamwork
* Good verbal and written communication
* Clear desire to work at UHS and in an acute rotational post
* Knowledge of NHS systems
Desirable Skills
* Previous acute hospital experience as a student or B5 OT
* Experience working at UHS on a student placement

Person Specification
Essential criteria:
* Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
* Current or pending HCPC registration
* Experience with a range of physical and mental health conditions during student placements
* Experience fitting a range of equipment
* Experience working with support staff and within multidisciplinary teams
* Evidence of continuing professional development
