The Role
As Production Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable running of your shift. You will lead a team of 30–50 people, ensuring high standards of quality, GMP, customer service and cost control are maintained at all times.
Outside of normal working hours, you will be the senior site lead, responsible for all factory operations, safety and security.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Performance
1. Deliver production plans by ensuring labour, materials, packaging and equipment are available and performing efficiently
2. Monitor and control yields, waste, downtime and line efficiency
3. Investigate issues and take immediate corrective action
4. Lead shift handovers and daily production communication
5. Ensure accurate recording of all labour hours
Health, Safety & Food Compliance
6. Maintain full compliance with HACCP, GMP, food safety and health & safety standards
7. Ensure CCPs are controlled within specification
8. Investigate incidents and prevent recurrence
9. Maintain a safe, clean and hygienic working environment
People Leadership
10. Recruit, train, coach and develop a flexible and capable workforce
11. Conduct performance reviews and manage training plans
12. Manage absence, conduct return-to-work interviews and address underperformance
13. Lead regular team briefings and promote two-way communication
14. Drive engagement, ownership and continuous improvement
Continuous Improvement
15. Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, cost, efficiency and service
16. Lead improvement projects and support new product trials and launches
17. Work closely with other departments to optimise factory performance
About You
You will be an experienced food manufacturing leader with strong operational and people management skills. You will be confident leading large teams in a fast-paced environment and passionate about safety, quality and continuous improvement.
You will have:
18. At least 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing
19. Strong knowledge of HACCP, allergens, GMP and food safety systems
20. Experience of Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
21. Proven people management and leadership experience
22. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
23. Good IT skills and the ability to work with performance data
24. Food hygiene and health & safety qualifications
