Overview
Deputy Pre-Analytical Manager – Blood Sciences, based at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, responsible for operational leadership of Specimen Reception services across the Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital campuses.
Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day operational management of Specimen Reception services, including staff, equipment, processes and interface with clinical services and laboratories.
* Coordinate daily workflow, manage staff and resources, and respond effectively to operational pressures within a 24/7 diagnostic environment.
* Provide line management for Pre-Analytical Leads and support the workforce including Associate Practitioners and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
* Drive service improvement, modernisation initiatives and new models of service delivery, contributing to departmental planning, automation developments and meeting clinical needs.
* Embed quality management systems, governance processes and accreditation standards; support workforce training, development and continuous process improvement.
* Ensure compliance with quality systems, regulatory standards and lead audits, incident investigations and quality improvement initiatives within the pre-analytical pathway.
* Maintain technical knowledge of specimen handling and laboratory processes to provide specialist operational advice.
* Work flexibly across both NUH campuses to support a busy diagnostic service that operates continuously.
Qualifications and Experience
Experienced laboratory professional with strong leadership skills, a passion for quality, service improvement and delivering safe and efficient diagnostic services.
