Job Summary
Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is a General Medical Council (GMC) sponsor employer. We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join our adult inpatient service at our Polaris Ward, Silverwood.
The post-holder will deliver consultant psychiatric input to inpatients admitted to the ward per the agreed Acute Service Operational Policy. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and be actively involved in service improvement activities. This role offers SPA time supporting CPD, teaching and supervision, audit, quality improvement, research interests and clinical leadership. The role includes participation in the Surrey-wide WAA consultant on-call rota (approximately 1:30).

* Salary: NHS Consultant Grade £105,504 - £139,882 + £149 fringe, + on-call payments

Person Specification
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
* Full medical registration with a license to practice
* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of interview/assessment) or equivalent
Desirable
* Higher degree (MD, PhD, MSc or other
* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Leadership/management qualification or interest
Eligibility
Essential
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
Desirable
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health guidance and its implications for clinical practice
* Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All)
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and broad medical knowledge
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
* Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
* Experience with diverse patient groups across settings (community, inpatient, specialist teams)
* Knowledge of psychiatric provision

* Teaching/training qualifications or attendance on recognised courses
