Overview

Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, working where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and futures of children and young people. We are looking for a strong professional to join our experienced and supportive Pastoral Team who believes in social mobility and inclusivity, and who can instill a commitment to attendance and engagement in pupils, irrespective of their starting point.

Responsibilities

* Play a key role in the Behaviour and Culture teams and support the Head of Year to oversee a year group of students.
* Support our safeguarding and attendance agenda and maintain an attitude to learning.
* Assume responsibility for first day calling in liaison with the Attendance Officer, with a particular focus on disadvantaged students.
* Work alongside the Head of Year on all matters relating to pastoral care of students, with emphasis on vulnerable learners.
* Provide support and advice to students to promote their social care, personal development, and respect for learning, health and safety.

About the School and Trust

We are a popular and heavily oversubscribed 11-16 mainstream school with two focused SEND provisions for pupils on the autistic spectrum and for those who are deaf and hearing impaired (ARC and Deaf Academy). We have developed a base on site to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. Our small and bespoke sixth form provision (WOA6) caters for students in Years 12 and 13 who have EHCPs. We work closely with our local community—families, schools, businesses and community groups—to ensure our pupils are at the centre of every decision. Our curriculum is progressive, designed to provide core knowledge for success, and aims to raise aspirations and prepare students for education and later life.

We have a team of dedicated, specialist curriculum, SEND and student welfare staff who collaborate to meet the needs of each child. Every member of our team teaches at Wodensborough and this includes the Principal. We believe that good teaching plays a critical role in shaping futures. We are part of Ormiston Academies Trust, with a vision to create a school system where every child thrives, regardless of background. Our people are at the heart of our approach, and we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Ormiston Academies Trust embraces diversity and equality of opportunity. Flexible working opportunities will be considered.
