Resident Welfare Officer

Covering Barrow in Furness/Workington/Carlisle

Mears Housing Management are seeking Resident Welfare Officers to support the delivery of a new service designed to enable a vulnerable client group, avoid homelessness and move into settled accommodation. Pastoral, floating support will be required to support the management and sustainment of interim accommodation and to support a pathway to settled accommodation.

The Role

Forms part of a front-line delivery team providing accommodation and support through-

1. Responsibility to assess, record and plan welfare and support needs for each client assigned to you.
2. In line with Mears Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy, delivery of welfare and support services to our service users ensuring a tailored approach to meet individual needs whilst being culturally aware and sensitive of circumstances.
3. Delivery of welfare and support services to ensure full contractual compliance and successful outcomes of all Key Performance Indicators and service delivery targets.
4. Delivery of service through sign posting, direct referral, liaising with other agencies/organisations.
5. Develop and build relationships with other support and service providers within region.
6. Management and mitigation of service user well- being risk and escalation in line with policy and procedure.
7. Delivery of service to ensure safeguarding and welfare are fully considered in line with processes.
8. Maintaining boundaries and being resilient to ensure a professional and well define service is provided to meet the needs of the service users.
9. Working collaboratively with Housing Managers to deliver a seamless service in meeting the individual and property needs of all our service users.
10. Delivery of performance and service reporting as requested by line manager, escalating all risks and concerns to ensure full resolution

This role does come with a Company Car, as you will be expected to travel around different locations in the North West area.

Role Criteria

This role forms part of the front line service team who are delivering to a vulnerable client group.

You will also have -

11. Demonstrable experience of working in a similar based role
12. Experience of working with vulnerable and diverse client groups
13. Exposure and experience of dealing with drug misuse, homelessness, mental health, ex offenders, trafficking
14. A qualification in support or mental health work services
15. Ability to identify individuals and family need and recognise the required support packages to maintain independence
16. To communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
17. Ability to work under own initiative.
18. You will be supportive, trustworthy, a good listener, approachable and empathetic to others by nature aswell as being patient, open, able to think on your feet with a strong desire to help others
19. Full UK Driving License

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.



Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks before commencement of employment. To work on this contract, you need to have lived and worked in the UK for the last 5 years to pass all our security checks.
