Silverdale Family Practice are seeking to add a new Receptionist/Administrator to their team.

The post-holder will work in a team of reception and adminstaff within the practice. They will receive and assist patients and directthem to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient,and effective way. They will project a positive and friendly image to visitors,both in person and on the telephone.This post will include supporting the Senior Administrators at thepractice with clinical coding, scanning summarising, recalls, QoFadministration and transcribing letters.


Main duties of the job

* To have knowledge of practiceprocedures including SystmOne
* Work in accordance with written protocols andpolicies
* Filing post in medical records, sorting andfranking post
* Answering calls, booking appointments, anddealing with patient queries
* Read coding, summarising, QoF admin support,deductions
* To have a thorough knowledge of the repeatprescription procedures and issue accurately
* Receiving patients, consulting with members ofpractice team
* Be able to cover all reception position asnecessary
* Process patient changes of address, computerdata and medical records in line with good governance process e.g. Identitychecking
* Monitor waiting room and keep clean and tidy
* Scan, code and file all letters on to patientsnotes
* Registrations of new patient's computer dataentry and medical records
* Set up new starters
* Transcribing for GPs and other members of theMDT
* Have working knowledge of digital telephonesystems and provide an efficient message taking/passing on facility, screeningcallers appropriately
* Maintaining the utmost professionalism at alltimes with patients, staff and visitors
* Opening and closing of Practice, ensuringbuilding security and have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
* Provide cover on rota basis for extended hoursservices and colleague absences
* Any other tasks allocated by managers

Silverdale Family Practice has a registered patient list size of over 6,400 patients. We are a single-site practice based in South Hetton.

In theperformance of the duties outlined in this job description, the post-holder mayhave access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers,practice staff and other healthcare workers.They may also have access to information relating to the practice as abusiness organisation. All suchinformation from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential

Informationrelating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or thebusiness of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons inaccordance with the practice policies and procedures relating toconfidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

Health & Safety

The post-holder will assist inpromoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security asdefined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, the practice Health &Safety Manual, and the practice Infection Control policy and published procedures.This will include:

Using personalsecurity systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines

Identifying therisks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way thatmanages those risks

Making effectiveuse of training to update knowledge and skills

Using appropriateinfection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way andfree from hazards

Activelyreporting of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately whenrecognised

Keeping own workareas and general / patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenanceof general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the jobholders role

Undertakingperiodic infection control training (minimum annually)

Demonstrate dueregard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

The post-holder will

Person Specification


Qualifications

* GCSE Grades A-C in English and Maths


Experience

* Experience in primary care
* Experience of working in a GP practice
* Knowledge of SystmOne
* Read coding experience in primary care
* Strong organsation and administrative skills
