We have a new opportunity within our Southampton Commercial Underwriting Team as a New Business Commercial Underwriter. This role offers a great opportunity for someone to partner with brokers and customers to understand their needs, using data insights to provide comprehensive customer solutions.
Ideally, you'll be based within a commutable distance to the Poole or Bournemouth area, as you'll be managing a portfolio of brokers and customers in the region to proactively develop and grow a profitable commercial book of business.
About the role:
Within this role, you will collaborate with our Southeast underwriting teams to support the Senior Underwriter and Team Manager in achieving financial objectives. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential, including the ability to manage your own diary effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Consistently underwriting new commercial business
2. Dealing effectively with insurance brokers and customers
3. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers through visits and market visibility
4. Mentoring and developing junior team members
5. Working towards underwriting license levels appropriate to your role
Skills and experience required:
* Previous underwriting experience in Property and Liability or Motor trade & Fleet
* Ability to analyze risks and communicate effectively with brokers and customers
* Experience working collaboratively within a large organization
* Good knowledge of FCA regulations and relevant legislation
* Strong commercial insight to develop and deliver business cases
