I'm supporting a forward-thinking client who is transforming how legacy systems are modernised. You'll be joining a high-impact team led by a Director of Technology, working alongside AI Engineers, an AI Product Manager, and top-tier developers focused on automating software migrations using cutting-edge tools like LangChain, Semantic Kernel, and Devin. The Role
This isn't a traditional development role. You won't be coding in isolation or confined to standard IDEs. Instead, you'll be helping build intelligent agents and automation tools that accelerate the migration of legacy systems to modern platforms. You'll work closely with AI Engineers and technical leadership to automate high-effort tasks across the full software development lifecycle from code understanding and transformation to testing, deployment, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and maintain AI-powered tools to automate legacy system migrations (., monoliths to microservices, .NET Framework to .NET Core).
2. Collaborate with AI Engineers and the Head of Development to integrate LangChain or Semantic Kernel agents into migration workflows.
3. Use platforms like Devin to orchestrate and automate repetitive development tasks.
4. Build reusable utilities for parsing, transforming, and re-factoring code across frontend, backend, and database layers.
5. Conduct proof-of-concepts in areas like test generation, API modernisation, schema translation, and dependency analysis.
6. Continuously improve the migration methodology and tooling robustness.
7. Adapt to diverse legacy stacks, including proprietary or niche technologies.
Required Skills & Experience
8. 5+ years of full-stack development experience.
9. Strong coding skills in at least two of: C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java.
10. Experience modernising or migrating legacy systems (., WinForms, WebForms, classic ASP).
11. Familiarity with AI developer toolchains (LangChain, Semantic Kernel, Devin).
12. Solid understanding of automation principles and system decomposition.
13. Ability to work independently across varied platforms and repositories.
Preferred Skills
14. Background in the .NET ecosystem ( Core, Entity Framework).
15. Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and DevOps tools (Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions).
16. Exposure to AI-integrated developer environments like Cursor or Devin.
17. Scripting experience in Python, TypeScript, or PowerShell.
Soft Skills
18. Autonomous and proactive in identifying automation opportunities.
19. Strong communicator and collaborator in cross-functional teams.
20. Eager to learn and experiment with evolving AI frameworks.
21. Detail-oriented with a focus on maintainability and quality.
