Band 6 MRI Specialist Radiographer

Band 6 MRI Specialist Radiographer at UHB QEH site - permanent full time (37.5 hours) posts X 2.

UHB is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national, and international population. Comprised of multiple sites, successful candidates will be based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

The Imaging Directorate provides 24/7 service delivery and has an established track record of service re-design and transformation. The current focus has seen a financial investment of over 3 million to upgrade and modernise the equipment and facilities at the 4 hospital sites.

The MRI Imaging Department at the QEH has 5 Siemens and 1 GE scanner including 1.5 and 3T systems. The QEH has recently seen the installation of a brand new 3T Siemens high specification scanner, with high level Neuro/MSK scanning capability. There is also a project underway to install a 1.5T Siemens Sola within the Radiotherapy unit, with a view to improving efficiency of pathways for patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment.

We will provide an allocated mentor, induction program, CPD opportunities with protected study time and opportunities to progress career development. There will be development opportunities to develop Advanced Clinical Practice and Management.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will be trained to provide highly skilled and specialised MRI imaging for all patients. You will be expected to contribute to the development, growth and success of the facility as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You must be a qualified radiographer with at least 2 years of post-graduate experience and hold current HCPC registration. Previous MRI experience is highly desirable.

The post-holder will ensure that a gold standard service is delivered to all stakeholders though ongoing engagement with continued professional development (CPD). You are encouraged to participate in audits and reflective practice CPD.

Duties will include scanning of both inpatients and outpatients of all body areas and participation in out-of-hours rota including nights, weekends and bank holidays. The service does operate an extended working day with some flexibility in shift patterns.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* HCPC registration
* D.C.R. (R) or BSc Radiography
* S.R.R.
* Documented experience in diagnostic imaging.
* Evidence of CPD and reflective practice, link grade competencies
* Evidence of short specialist/leadership courses/education.


Experience

* Relevant clinical experience in general radiography
* Knowledge and some Experience in the specialised MRI imaging modality
* *Advanced knowledge and experience of MRI scanning techniques
