Mechanical Engineer – px Group
Location: Hull, Kingston upon Hull, England, United Kingdom.

Energy Works Hull plant processes up to 240,000 tonnes per year of refuse‑derived fuel (RDF) using advanced fluidised‑bed gasification technology, producing around 25 MW of baseload electricity, enough for approximately 43,000 homes and offsets about 30,000 t CO₂ annually.
You will be supported with personalised on‑the‑job training, coaching, mentoring and twice‑yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for all mechanical engineering and maintenance processes, systems, reporting mechanisms and contracts to manage operational risk and meet requirements.
* Lead and manage the mechanical engineering and maintenance department and personnel, ensuring safe, timely delivery of required standards.
* Supervise, develop and maintain engineering and maintenance capability and competency in discipline areas and technical requirement implementation.
* Plan, schedule and execute all works within the discipline group for both internal and external resources.
* Liaise with the project team to identify, specify and hand over project and major outage works.
* Support the E&M manager in implementing key site processes including CMMS, maintenance workflow, LOPA, cyber security and strategic spares.
* Implement strategies to maintain and improve compliance with px Group corporate standard.
Minimum Requirements
* HNC/HND in a mechanical discipline (or equivalent).
* Time‑served apprentice in mechanical discipline (or equivalent).
* NEBOSH General Certificate.
* Experience in a power generation, energy from waste or 24/7 high‑hazard operational manufacturing environment with significant line management experience.
* Experience leading investigations and audits.
* Developing, implementing & evaluating systems, upgrades, improvements & modifications (Management of Change).
* Familiar with budgetary procedures, setting and controlling operational and capital budgets.
* Working individually & leading teams to achieve business targets.
