We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Litigation Midwife to join our Clinical Support Team. This unique role offers the chance to step away from the pressures of frontline practice while continuing to use your midwifery expertise to support families and influence better standards of care. You will play a key role in helping our solicitors investigate clinical negligence cases, particularly those involving maternity services. From reviewing maternity records to providing clear clinical insight for legal colleagues and clients, your expertise will directly contribute to securing justice and positive outcomes for those affected. No previous legal experience is required – we will provide full training and support to help you succeed in a medico-legal career. Key Responsibilities Review, interpret and summarise maternity and medical records, providing expert clinical insight to our legal teams. Prepare clear, accurate case chronologies and highlight potential breaches of duty in care. Assist in the assessment of new cases and provide preliminary views on clinical issues. Explain medical terminology and procedures to clients with empathy and sensitivity. Support the legal team with the instruction of independent medical experts. Contribute to client meetings, conferences with counsel, and case preparation. Keep up-to-date with current NHS guidance, maternity practice and professional standards. Provide general assistance to the Clinical Negligence Team in Practice and contribute to improving client outcomes. About You Registered Midwife (NMC) with a minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in maternity services (high-risk obstetrics experience desirable). Strong clinical knowledge, with confidence in reviewing and analysing maternity records. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Empathetic, approachable, and able to support clients sensitively. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure. Proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn. Previous medico-legal experience is desirable but not essential. Who are we?
