Principal Designer - Building Safety Act Location: Midlands or Cambridge Salary: Circa £90,000 Car & Benefits Irwin and Colton has been engaged by a well-regarded construction and property services contractor to recruit a Principal Designer. This newly created position will focus primarily on matters relating to the Building Safety Act, supporting a range of clients as they navigate evolving legislation. The organisation has a turnover in excess of £200 million, and this role is pivotal to their continued growth. Key Responsibilities: Lead the delivery of Building Safety Cases and Gateway applications across planning, pre-construction, and completion stages Advise project teams and clients on compliance with the Building Safety Act and CDM Regulations Oversee compliance documentation and maintain strong client relationships through consistent and transparent progress reporting Manage the Golden Thread of information and all required building safety data The Successful Candidate Will Have: Proven experience in a Principal Designer or Building Safety role NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (Diploma preferred) In-depth knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated legislation (including experience reporting to the Building Safety Regulator) Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders A full UK driving licence is essential, as travel will be required.
