Overview
California House is a new service which will be providing post-operative rehabilitation and re-ablement care close to Ipswich Hospital.
We are seeking an experienced and clinically confident Registered Nurse to join our leadership team as Deputy Manager.
This is a senior leadership role requiring strong clinical oversight, excellent care planning skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding, person-centred care within a residential setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and guidance to Duty Managers.
* Undertake required monthly audits.
* Take overall responsibility for the running of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Complete supervisions for Duty Managers and non-care staff.
* Personally supervise and assess each new Resident upon arrival.
* Liaise with family members, NOK, and health/social care professionals to gather comprehensive medical and social care information.
* Review NHS medical records via GP Connect (where available).
* Book in medications and follow up on any discrepancies.
* Complete full Care Plans and Risk Assessments using Person Centred Software (PCS).
* Monitor and oversee care plan reviews to ensure they are updated appropriately.
* Monitor completion of daily care tasks on PCS.
* Ensure high standards of residents' personal care and presentation.
* Oversee cleaning standards and odour control.
* Occasionally work as a Duty Manager "on the floor," including medication administration, to maintain familiarity with residents' needs.
* Assist with show-arounds as required.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC PIN (active registration).
* Proven experience in a senior role within a residential or nursing home setting.
* Strong clinical assessment and care planning experience.
* Experience with medication management and administration.
* Confident using digital care planning systems.
* Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
* Good understanding of CQC regulations and compliance standards.
Desirable
* Leadership or management qualification (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care or working towards).
* Experience supervising or managing staff teams.
