Main Function:Reporting to the Managing Director and leading the dedicated Purchasing Team you will be responsible for maintaining and improving all aspects of the Company's Purchasing, Storage, Distribution and their Management Systems. The Role: This is a multi-faceted role which requires the Procurement professional to maintain the departments certification to IATF16949 & ISO 9001. You will have at least 5 years relevant experience as a Buyer / Purchaser / Stores Control in a Manufacturing Company. Forklift license essential. Job Summary: The Procurement professional is responsible for the Companys purchasing and storage functions including the regular selection of potential vendors, requesting quotations, negotiating contracts, placing orders and making sure the agreed terms are adhered to. You will manage and implement strategies to ensure that the Company meets the customer and business requirements. Key Tasks: Develop and implement all necessary policies and procedures to ensure that the purchasing functions operate effectively and make the best use of its purchasing power. Analyse customer schedules to determine requirements for materials Provide forecasts to suppliers Provide Purchase Orders to suppliers Negotiate positive contracts with suppliers who meet the Companys incoming quality requirements to secure the most favourable terms of business for the Company. Keep all contracts for the supply of goods and services under review to ensure that they are being carried out effectively and renegotiate terms periodically and where necessary. Maintain the central materials budget to ensure the effective monitoring and control of all purchases of goods and services. Maintain an awareness of any developments in the field of central purchasing or with suppliers to ensure that the Company continues to apply the most effective policies and procedures. Oversee the goods inwards operation to ensure that it operates efficiently, effectively and safely and meets the customer and business requirements. Oversee the use of the stores' capacity and organisation to ensure the maximum use of available space and a safe, efficient and profitable operation which meets customer and business needs. Maintain a central register and monitor all orders received and manage material requirements. Develop and implement effective material requirement plans, stock control and audit systems to ensure that all stocks are maintained at the levels necessary to ensure that all production, despatch and delivery dates and targets are met, and business objective achieved. Maintain regular contact between the production and materials delivery and storage operations to ensure that there is effective co-ordination and that customer requirements are met. Negotiate contracts regularly or as when necessary Propose cost reductions through quotations for alternative materials or suppliers Develop procedures and processes to ensure that the materials function operates efficiently and effectively and continually monitor and report on relevant operational issues. Support the introduction of improvements to our IT systems Direct and control staff to ensure that they are well motivated and trained and that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standards. Carry out projects relating to the use of the Stores and logistics to improve operational effectiveness. Maintain all necessary records of all material transactions. Act as the Companys adviser on all matters relating to the materials management function. Contribute to an annual business plan for the department and monitor progress against these plans to ensure that the department attains its objectives as cost-effectively as possible. Prepare, gain acceptance and monitor the implementation of the annual departmental budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimized. Uphold the quality management and environment management systems throughout the Company to ensure compliance, as a minimum and champion a culture of continuous improvement within the department and other areas. Ensure that the departmental personnel comply with all health and safety, environmental and other statutory regulations. Assist in the development of the Companys overall strategy by contributing to the development of the Companys objectives.
