At Ark, all Support Practitioners are paid at least the Real Living Wage, currently £13.45 per hour (£25,947.47 pro rata). After successfully completing your probation period, your hourly rate increases to £13.75 (£26,526.23 pro rata). We recognise the responsibility of this role and have chosen to build in a clear and guaranteed pay progression, reflecting the commitment, skill and consistency it takes to do this job well.

Arbroath currently has two teams working across Arbroath, Brechin, Friockheim and Carnoustie. We support individuals with a range of disabilities aged between 20 and 70, both in their own homes and with family. Support includes personal care, skill development for independent living, social support in the community, and attending college to further knowledge. We help our supported people set outcomes such as holidays abroad or closer to home to experience life to its fullest, and provide a space for them to meet and build relationships through various activities.
Ark is a major provider of Housing, Care and Support to people with long‑term and enduring conditions such as learning disabilities, mental health issues, dementia and autism. Our aim is to ensure that those who use our services get the very best from Ark so they can live as independently as possible and lead a happy life.
Your role will be to provide practical, emotional and social support. Ark offers a detailed induction and training programme designed to ensure you have all the skills you need for the job. First and foremost you will align with Ark’s values – Trust, Respect, Understanding, Equality and Integrity.
Responsibilities
* Work with colleagues as part of an effective and efficient team to support vulnerable service users.
* Communicate and work well with individuals to provide individual care and maintain appropriate relationships.
* Carry out tasks in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Be responsible in supporting individuals throughout activities, giving positive feedback and encouragement.
* Update and maintain accurate records using a tablet on Ark’s Information Management system.
