£24,000 - £27,000 a year

Offer description

At Able Health Care, we are looking for enthusiastic and resilient Support Workers to join our Learning Disability home (Children's Residential).

This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of children and young people with learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, and additional needs.

You will be joining a team that is committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel valued, listened to, and supported to reach their potential.

Your Responsibilities

* Provide consistent day-to-day care and emotional support to children, including personal care where required.
* Support the implementation of care plans, behaviour support strategies, and education goals tailored to each child.
* Model positive behaviour and professional practice, in line with our Statement of Purpose and Ofsted standards.
* Contribute to safeguarding by recognising, responding to, and recording concerns in line with policy and statutory guidance.
* Build safe and trusting relationships with children, while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
* Support young people to develop independence, life skills, and positive relationships.
* Collaborate with families, schools, health professionals, and social workers to ensure joined-up care.
* Keep accurate, timely records that evidence progress, safeguarding, and compliance.
* Maintain a safe, homely, and inclusive environment.
* Engage in reflective practice and contribute to a positive team culture.

What We're Looking For

* A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children (this will be tested throughout recruitment).
* Enthusiasm, empathy, and resilience in supporting children with additional needs.
* Experience of working with children or young people in a supportive role is desirable, but not essential — full training and shadowing will be provided.
* Ability to remain calm, consistent, and professional in challenging situations.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as part of a rota.
* Full UK driving licence preferred.

Qualifications

* Staff in children's homes must hold, or be willing to work towards, the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England) within two years of appointment, as required by Regulation 32 of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

If you already hold this or an equivalent qualification, this will be an advantage.

What We Offer

* Competitive hourly rate
* Paid breaks and company pension
* Fully funded Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already held)
* Robust induction programme, including safeguarding and Autism-specific training
* Ongoing learning and development opportunities
* Career progression within a growing organisation
* Employee Assistance and Wellbeing Programme (24/7 confidential support)
* Refer a Friend scheme
* Supportive, family-values culture where staff are valued as much as the children
