Summary of the Portland Facility Our clients Portland facility comprises of 2 warehouse sites, one totalling 75,000 square feet in warehouse capacity and an additional state of the art 144,000 square feet facility with a portside presence for discharging and loading vessels using our own stevedoring equipment including a new 380 metric tonne hybrid crane. Our clients network of global port terminals means they can provide a guaranteed service to consumers. Position description As Site Engineer you will work with the Maintenance and Engineering Manager in taking responsibility for ensuring that all machinery is maintained in good working order to enable the smooth delivery, storage and export of grain and other commodities used in the food, animal feed and drinks industries amongst others. Day to day tasks * Provide full support to the M&E Manager * Be responsible for learning and maintaining all site machinery * Carry out preventative planned inspections, help to identify potential faults on machinery and escalate any issues that you can’t resolve yourself * Diagnose minor faults when they occur and carry out remedial repairs * Carry out routine servicing on all site machinery * Follow and maintain all maintenance procedures * Maintain plant inspection schedules * Ensure site and stores are kept in a clean and tidy condition * Adhere to all health and safety guidelines * Support M&E Manager on any relevant documentation and reporting * Learn to operate our automated gantry system and take responsibility for the smooth running of the system during discharges * There will be a requirement to learn all of our machinery and gain tickets to drive and operate on occasion, when required Essential Skills and experience * Relevant qualification (BTech/C&G/NVQ or similar) or comparable work experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering role * Min 3 years of relevant industry experience * Be prepared to manage a busy work schedule and be able to regularly re-prioritise your job list according to urgency * Have the confidence and initiative to be able to work alone and make quick decisions * A positive attitude and the flexibility to work shifts * A team player and confident communicator * A willingness to get stuck in and help where required Desirable skills * If you have previously worked in a similar environment or industry, that would be advantageous (production, warehouse, ports, shipping) * A full UK driving license Personal Attributes * The desire to learn and develop * Confident and proactive * Team player Working hours: Shifts are 8 hours in length plus an hour of unpaid breaks. Normal working hours will be Monday to Friday 7.30-4.30 or (phone number removed)pm (to be agreed) When our cleint is discharging large vessels, the facility operates 24/7 and you will be required to work on a flexible basis during this time, which will include some weekend and night work. Any over time is rewarded at time and a half for weekend work and double time for night work.
