We are seeking experienced Platers / Fabricators to join our shipyard team on a rolling contract, supporting increased demand across ship repair, dock maintenance, and marine engineering projects.
This role is ideal for individuals looking to transition from offshore rotations into a stable, local position while leveraging their marine, offshore, or oil & gas structural fabrication experience.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out heavy fabrication and plating work on marine vessels and dock structures.
Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and fabrication plans.
Fabricate and fit plate, structural sections, bulkheads, frames, and other steel components.
Undertake ship repair activities including removal, replacement, and installation of structural steelwork.
Assist with dockyard maintenance tasks
Use cutting, burning, grinding, and forming tools to prepare and assemble materials.
Ensure all fabrication work meets required tolerances, standards, and safety specifications.
Work safely in a shipyard environment, following all safety procedures and permit systems.
Collaborate with supervisors and other trades to deliver work to schedule and quality targets.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Plater / Fabricator within a shipyard, marine, offshore, or oil & gas setting.
Strong ability to work from drawings and fabricate to tight tolerances.
Competence in steel preparation, fitting, and structural assembly.
Experience working on heavy steel, vessel structures, or large industrial fabrications.
Strong understanding of safety practices in a high‑risk engineering environment.
Fit for physical work in varied conditions (heights, confined spaces, outdoor areas).
Willingness to work overtime when required.
