Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our modern facilities at Colchester hospital, covering maternity leave until 25/09/2026. The role focuses on developing and progressing the clinical pharmacy service within Renal practice.
This is a Band 8a position; however, we will consider Band 7 pharmacists for a Band 7 developmental program.
You will be based in the Pharmacy department, with significant ward/clinical level involvement, working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive pharmacy services for high-risk patients.

ESNEFT is implementing the EPIC electronic patient record system across the site, including electronic prescribing, administration, and stock control.
Our facilities include fully automated dispensaries, a NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service medicines advice site, and a Regional Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit with a new Aseptic facility.
Main duties of the job
* Serve as the Specialist Clinical Pharmacist for Renal services at Colchester hospital.
* Provide highly specialised clinical pharmacy services to renal patients, ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication use.
* Support the multidisciplinary team in maintaining and developing renal services.
* Collaborate with key personnel at ICB and NHSE to secure funding for high-cost drugs.
* Develop and update renal guidelines and patient support materials.
* Clinically screen renal homecare prescriptions.
