Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our modern facilities at Colchester hospital, covering maternity leave until 25/09/2026. The role focuses on developing and progressing the clinical pharmacy service within Renal practice.

This is a Band 8a position; however, we will consider Band 7 pharmacists for a Band 7 developmental program.

You will be based in the Pharmacy department, with significant ward/clinical level involvement, working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive pharmacy services for high-risk patients.

Our friendly pharmacy team is committed to nurturing, mentoring, and staff development through one-to-one training, forums, clinical huddles, and educational activities. We support personal development plans, SMART objectives, and study opportunities.

ESNEFT is implementing the EPIC electronic patient record system across the site, including electronic prescribing, administration, and stock control.

Our facilities include fully automated dispensaries, a NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service medicines advice site, and a Regional Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit with a new Aseptic facility.

Main duties of the job

* Serve as the Specialist Clinical Pharmacist for Renal services at Colchester hospital.
* Provide highly specialised clinical pharmacy services to renal patients, ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication use.
* Support the multidisciplinary team in maintaining and developing renal services.
* Collaborate with key personnel at ICB and NHSE to secure funding for high-cost drugs.
* Develop and update renal guidelines and patient support materials.
* Clinically screen renal homecare prescriptions.
