The Role
Develop and review site specific H&S policies and procedures.
Conduct risk assessments for onsite work activities and identify potential hazards including, but not limited to; machinery, PUWER, manual handling, working at heights, forklift safety, COSHH, noise levels, stress risk, loan working and DSE.
Conduct H&S internal audits, generate reports with corrective and preventive actions and communicate findings.
Lead in-house H&S training along with general training requirements, raising awareness across site for both management and employees.
Develop and maintain a scheduling system for H&S programmes around the workplace facilities. Including ensuring PAT testing is up to date, sufficient first aiders and fire Marshalls onsite at all times.
Work alongside site managers to ensure sufficient H&S equipment and PPE is in place for staff carrying out duties.
Keep up to date on, and ensuring compliance to, Health and Safety legislation. Conduct regular horizon scanning for changes. Communicate changes to management.
Accident and near miss reporting and investigations in the workplace. i.e., RIDDOR reporting, contributing to return to work assessments.
Develop and maintain database of approved contractors, review & approve contractor RAMS.
Liaise with contractors onsite to ensure their practices are complaint to CDM regulations.
Review HSE KPI’s with analysis where required.
Ensure clear communication of H&S information on the staff notice boards.
The Candidate
NEBOSH General qualification or equivalent BSC Health & Safety qualification.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferably FMCG / Food / Beverage.
Demonstrable experience of developing safe systems of work, carrying out H&S Audits, conducting risk assessments and delivering training
An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
An enthusiastic promoter and leader of a safe working environment.
Ability to work accurately under pressure to meet project deadlines.
Attention to detail.
It is highly advantageous if you have worked within FMCG / Food / Beverage manufacturing
IOSH managing/working safely qualification.
