The Role
An experienced Sous Chef is required to lead services, train and develop junior members of the kitchen team and maintain food quality standards and expectations.
You will work alongside Matthew, the founder and Head Chef helping shape The Golden Tooth, having creative input to menus and an involvement in the evolution of the pub.
This is a role for an experienced chef, who wants to take the next step in their career, develop their leadership skills and be part of an exciting new opening.
Requirements:
2 Years Experience in a similar role (experienced Senior CDP's or Junior Sous are encouraged to apply)
Full knowledge of meat and fish prep
Strong service skills, including extensive grill and pass experience
Experience training and developing others
A thorough understanding of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene best practises
The Pub
Cult Hackney restaurant Papi entered a new era when it closed it's doors in early 2026, soon reopening as The Golden Tooth at a new venue in Newington Green. Bringing Scott & Carrs ethos into a traditional pub setting and providing an original take on the classic gastro pub notion, the evolving menu at The Golden Tooth reflects that of Papis, with notes of nostalgia and mischief and encompassing Scotts bold, produce-led cooking style alongside a sharp focus on sustainability.
Expect oyster shucking, Currywurst, a take on KFC and glazed ham and mustard in the front bar, whilst the restaurant will specialise in grilled meats, chops, pies and smaller plates designed for sharing. Think Mussel Toast with Guanciale, Curds & Whey and Beef Tartare with Walnut Bagna Cauda, alongside larger plates of Chicken and Red Prawn Stargazy pie (for 2), Iberico Pork Chop with Mead and Burnt Apple and Ex-Dairy Sirloin .
