Overview
What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to run our ‘Ready to Learn’ room, where students who are feeling unable to be in lessons can go to get support. This resource is for use ‘in the moment’, ‘on the day’ and ‘in advance’ for some of our more vulnerable students. Around 30% of our students have a SEN and so sometimes lessons get a bit overwhelming. We are looking for someone who can offer support and a safe landing place before helping them get back on track and back into lessons. This is not a poor behaviour room.
Responsibilities
* Run the “Ready to Learn” room to support students who are feeling unable to be in lessons.
* Provide immediate, on-the-day, and advance support for vulnerable students and help them rejoin lessons.
* Offer a safe landing place and a calm, consistent approach to reduce overwhelm.
* Support students with SEND, including those with SEMH, in a Primary setting or SEND background.
Qualifications
* Experience in SEND or Primary settings; SEMH experience.
* Patient, calm, and consistent approach to students.
* Willingness to take on new challenges in this role.
What the school offers
* Altwood Church of England School is a Good (Ofsted October 2023) school.
* Comprehensive induction package and CPD to support personal progress.
* Opportunity to impact whole-school development and make a difference to students’ lives.
* Location: 25 minutes from central London by train; well-served by local road, rail and transport links. Subsidised accommodation on the school site is offered subject to availability.
