We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical/Mechanical Fitter to join our growing team in the rail sector. You’ll play a key role in assembling, installing, and maintaining critical systems on rail vehicles, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assemble and install electrical and mechanical components on trains, trams, or rail carriages.
* Fit wiring looms, control panels, HVAC units, motors, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
* Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and mechanical systems.
* Conduct functional and safety testing of completed assemblies.
* Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams.
* Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and materials used.
* Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
What We’re Looking For:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience in rail, automotive, agricultural, or heavy engineering environments.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems, mechanical assemblies, and safety-critical components.
* Ability to read technical drawings and follow detailed work instructions.
* Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Knowledge of rail industry standards (e.g., EN 15085, RIS-2700-RST).
* Experience with PLCs, diagnostics, or control systems.
* Rail-specific certifications (e.g., PTS, Sentinel).
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
