Applications are invited from suitably experienced and qualified Clinical Engineers for the post of Head of Clinical Technology located in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. This is an exciting opportunity that includes scientific leadership of Assistive Technology, including Wheelchair Services alongside Orthotics and Prosthetics and Clinical Engineering services in the NHS Highland area as well as the Western Isles and western areas of Grampian. Services managed include approximately 30 staff and trainees. The post also acts as a key point of consultation for the board Research, Development and Innovation division and has a leadership role in the board for aspects of medical devices. The department participates in the Scottish Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Training Scheme with the post-holder responsible for supervision of trainee clinical engineers.
Professional and strategic leadership are a significant part of the post so highly developed communications, management and influencing skills will be needed alongside clinical, technical and financial skills. An appropriate level of experience working directly with patients in the NHS in relevant services is essential. Candidates must hold a full valid driving licence.

Responsibilities
* Provide professional and strategic leadership of Assistive Technology, Wheelchair Services, Orthotics and Prosthetics, and Clinical Engineering services in NHS Highland and associated areas.
* Serve as a key point of consultation for the board’s Research, Development and Innovation division and lead aspects of medical devices within the board.
* Supervise trainee clinical engineers as part of the Scottish Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Training Scheme.
* Demonstrate highly developed communications, management and influencing skills to lead services, manage budgets and engage with stakeholders.
Qualifications
