Project Manager (HV / MV)
Inverurie | Power & Renewables | Permanent
Some Project Managers manage paperwork.
Others understand exactly what’s being built.
This role is for the second type.
You’ll be leading high voltage projects where technical decisions matter just as much as programme and cost. You’ll need to understand the engineering well enough to challenge it, guide it, and make sure it works on site.
If you’ve come up through an electrical or engineering background and now run projects end-to-end, this will feel like a natural fit.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take full ownership of HV / MV projects from early planning through to handover.
* Lead projects from handover through to completion, shaping programme, procurement and delivery strategy
* Build and manage programme, cost, and resource plans, keeping everything aligned with reality on site
* Work closely with engineering teams, understanding designs and ensuring they are practical, buildable and delivered correctly
* Act as the main point of contact for the client, handling technical discussions, risks and delivery expectations
* Manage site teams and subcontractors to ensure safe, high-quality installation and commissioning
* Drive projects through to successful testing, energisation and handover
You won’t be expected to design everything yourself, but you do need to understand what “good” looks like and step in when it doesn’t.
What makes this role different
* You’ll be trusted to run technically complex projects properly, not just report on them
* You’ll work on high-voltage infrastructure and renewables projects where engineering decisions have real impact
* You’ll be dealing with clients who expect technical credibility, not just project updates
* You’ll have long-term project continuity, not constant short-term churn
What you’ll bring
You’re already running projects, but your strength is that you understand the engineering behind them.
* Background in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a strong electrical trade progressing into project management
* Experience delivering HV / MV, substations, or similar infrastructure projects
* Ability to engage in technical conversations with engineers, consultants and clients with confidence
* Strong understanding of construction delivery, sequencing and commissioning
* Comfortable leading teams, managing programme and owning outcomes
If you’ve moved from site or engineering into project management, that’s exactly the kind of profile that works well here.
What you’ll get
* A long-term pipeline of projects in power and renewables
* The chance to run projects where technical understanding is valued, not ignored
* A team that expects you to think, challenge and take ownership
* Clear progression as the project portfolio grows
* Competitive package with flexibility depending on experience
