Join to apply for the Fraud Strategy & Analytics Manager role at Cleo.
Overview
We are looking for a Fraud Strategy & Analytics Specialist to drive clarity, insight, and direction across Cleo’s fraud landscape. This role sits at the intersection of data, risk, and operations, and is critical to ensuring we protect users and the business while continuing to scale access to financial support.
Responsibilities
* Lead the team that analyses Cleo’s fraud performance, surfaces attack trends, and drives mitigation strategy across the business. Collaborate with a full product team and other stakeholders to shape roadmap, policy, and risk management.
* Own fraud insights and analytics; be the face of fraud prevention, detection, and response at Cleo, owning key company metrics.
* Manage and mentor analysts; deliver reporting, investigations, and trend analysis across disbursements, repayments, identity abuse, and platform misuse.
* Define and iteratively improve key fraud metrics (e.g., fraud rate, false positive rate, loss per user) and track performance across initiatives and vendors.
* Deep-dive attack vectors and failure modes to inform system and policy improvements.
* Identify where detection, eligibility, or operational controls are falling short and recommend investments; design smarter Prevention mechanisms and higher-fidelity risk signals with Product, Engineering, and third-party vendors.
* Balance user experience, growth, and protection as Cleo scales access to financial products.
* Translate fraud insights into clear priorities for Product, Ops, Compliance, and Vendor teams; support roadmap planning and vendor evaluation.
* Build tooling, processes, and frameworks to make Cleo more data-driven and proactive in tackling fraud; own team rituals and planning; help hire, onboard, and develop analysts as the function grows.
About You
* Proven experience in fraud or risk mitigation roles in fintech, payments, or financial services.
* Excellent analytics with the ability to turn raw data into actionable insights (strong SQL required; Python a plus).
* Experience managing or mentoring analysts; ability to structure and prioritise team output.
* Strong understanding of fraud typologies (e.g., ATO, synthetic identity, repayment abuse), detection methods, and mitigation trade-offs.
* Confidence influencing stakeholders across product, engineering, and compliance.
* Commercial awareness of how fraud interacts with business economics (losses, margins, user experience).
* Bias to action and continuous improvement: comfortable iterating, challenging assumptions, and learning fast.
Nice To Have
* Experience with third-party fraud tools or vendor management.
* Familiarity with short-term and revolving credit products.
* Exposure to UK and US regulatory frameworks.
What You Get
* A competitive compensation package (base + equity) with bi-annual reviews; salary progression framework available publicly.
* Work at a fast-growing fintech startup backed by leading investors.
* A clear progression plan with support for growth, leadership opportunities, and impact.
* Flexible working options; global distributed team with optional hybrid presence in London and travel support.
* Other benefits including pension, private medical insurance, parental leave, sabbatical, and more.
