With their headquarters in the West Midlands, they are true pioneers within the chemicals industry. With strategic expansion plans, an opportunity has arisen for an Electrical & Instrumentation Manager to join them and take ownership of the overall responsibility for the management of the Electrical and Instrumentation departments, as well as the design, specification and installation of all electrical and instrument equipment for new and capital maintenance work. Reporting into the Head of Engineering, the key responsibilities for your new role as Electrical & Instrumentation Manager are as follows: Overall responsibility for the management of the Electrical & Instrumentation departments which includes 14 Engineers, along with external Contractors, as and when required. Responsibility for the design, specification and installation of all electrical and instrument equipment for new capital and maintenance work, and controlling expenditure within authorised budgets. Ownership of the provision, operation and development of all electrical and instrumentation maintenance systems. Maintaining and promoting a safe operating culture within the department, ensuring that in all aspects, it operates to the highest levels of safety and meets all legal and statutory requirements, company rules and procedures. Liaison at all levels inside the company and outside contacts typically including suppliers, contractors and agencies such as the HSE and EA. My client is keen to find someone with a HND / HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or Instrumentation & Control, as a minimum (ideally a degree), and ten years practical industry experience, with at least five years in a supervisory role within an instrumentation and control background. Extensive expertise in PLC / HMI programming is also essential, along with a good understanding of functional safety within an industrial process plant environment. Regardless of previous expertise, you will have a flexible attitude and be able to deal with multiple complex jobs simultaneously and excellent personnel management skills.
