Company Description
Wells Farming Ltd is a progressive dairy farming business in Bradley, Stafford. We are a small friendly team who care about our cows with a focus on achieving excellent results in a positive working environment. We are looking for an Assistant / Trainee Herdsperson to join our team.
Our Farm
We operate a Spring block calving grazing system, milking around 380 cows and rearing around 100 calves per year. We have a 40/80 swing over parlour, cubicle housing and excellent grazing infrastructure.
Your Role
You'll be joining our team of four full time staff and will support the other members of the team in carrying out daily operations on the farm.
Your role will include milking the cows daily, hosing and scraping the yards, setting up electric fences for paddock grazing, bedding up cubicles in winter, assisting with animal husbandry tasks, helping feed calves, and basic farm maintenance.
The working rota is flexible but will require some weekend work. This could be a part time role shared between two people. It could also be an apprenticeship.
Experience is less important than a great attitude, an enjoyment of working with livestock and outdoors, and an ability to work well in a team.
You will be capable of following instructions, have great attention to detail and able to work independently.
This is a physical role that involves working outdoors in all weathers.
A full driving license is essential for this role.
