Payroll Manager
Role: Payroll Manager Interim
Daily Rate: £140 - £300 (Negotiable based on experience)
Type: Contractor, self-employed
Location: Bristol
Hours: 35 hours a week (Full-time), Monday to Friday + opportunity to become hybrid
We have a new position open for an interim Payroll Manager to join Hartley Pensions on our Payroll team.
Accountabilities / Competencies
* Pension Payroll: Running timely and accurate monthly payrolls for over 1,000 clients, including payments to clients and HMRC.
* Responsible for timely submission of RTI to HMRC.
* Managing yearly process schedules in line with UK Government tax regulations and HMRC, as well as overseas tax regulations.
* Providing excellent customer service and handling client queries effectively, including over the phone.
* Resolving HMRC queries promptly.
* Liaising with HMRC to resolve PAYE queries.
* Building positive relationships with Administration Teams across sites to ensure timely data receipt and quick query resolution.
* Producing and distributing payslips, P45s, and P60s, either electronically or via post as per client preference.
* Generating various payroll reports as requested.
* Maintaining Payroll Processing spreadsheets to identify clients requiring processing per period.
* Paying PAYE to HMRC each tax period.
* Supporting transfer out processes, including payroll report production and TUPE client processing.
* Inputting payroll data into Sage payroll.
Employee Payroll
* Running timely and accurate monthly payroll for employees.
* Producing weekly absence reports.
* Generating monthly variance reports, identifying significant pay changes.
* Ensuring timely RTI submissions to HMRC.
* Managing yearly process schedules in line with UK tax regulations.
* Producing P11D forms.
* Collaborating on monthly pension and workplace benefit processing.
Strategy & Process
* Enhancing payroll processing efficiency and consistency.
* Staying updated with payroll legislation and communicating changes to the business and staff.
* Planning and prioritising multiple workstreams with conflicting deadlines.
Knowledge/Experience
* Extensive experience with Sage payroll.
* Strong knowledge of HMRC and tax regulations.
* Experience managing large and multiple payrolls.
* CIPP Level 3+ qualification or Qualified IAB Level 2 Award in Computerised Payroll (desirable).
* Experience in financial or professional services (desirable).
* Experience processing pension payroll (desirable).
