Position Summary:
As an Engineering / Maintenance Assistant, you'll be a key part of the crew, responsible for general maintenance, servicing and safe boat operations. This is a dynamic, hands-on role suited to someone friendly, hardworking, and ready to work in a unique environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work.
* Support engineers in repairs and upkeep of equipment, machinery, and infrastructure.
* Carry out routine checks and inspections, reporting faults or potential issues promptly.
* Help maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are stored safely and correctly.
* Maintain cleanliness and safety in workshops, engine rooms, and work areas.
* Assist with installation and removal of equipment or fixtures as required.
* Comply with all health and safety regulations and site-specific procedures.
* Respond to urgent maintenance requests quickly and efficiently.
* Crewing duties when required.
Essential Skills & Requirements
* Good practical and problem-solving skills.
* Some experience in a maintenance, engineering services role (or willingness to learn).
* Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
* Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
* Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
* Physically fit and able to work at heights or in confined spaces if needed.
* Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).
Desirable (but not essential)
* Recognised qualifications in a relevant trade (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds).
* Experience working in a marine, hospitality, leisure, or transport setting.
* Awareness of health & safety legislation (COSHH, COSWP, etc.).
