Biomedical Scientist - Haematology/Blood Transfusion role at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist or those on target to qualify within the next six months. Based in the UKAS Accredited Haematology and Blood Transfusion Laboratories at the Royal Oldham Hospital, with additional site work as required.
Job Summary
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, motivated and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists to join the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratories. The department serves The Royal Oldham Hospital Trust sites, Rochdale Infirmary, primary care services nearby, and an essential services laboratory at Fairfield General Hospital, Bury, with other equipped laboratories across the NCA.
The department has recently installed new equipment, including Sysmex XN haematology analysers and CN coagulation analysers; Tosoh G11 HPLC for Haemoglobinopathy; Ortho Vision for Blood Transfusion. A new laboratory information management system is planned for 2025.
We are undergoing development and change following the formation of the Northern Care Alliance. You will help ensure that service delivery remains quality driven and meets high standards of patient care.
Main duties
Part-time Band 5 Biomedical Scientist in a busy Haematology and Blood Transfusion department. You will rotate through all departmental sections, assist in the daily running of the department, and undertake duties appropriate to your band. The post holder will participate in a 24/7 shift rota and work across sites after appropriate training. You will be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a flexible approach, committed to patient safety and quality improvement. The department is approved by IBMS for pre/post-registration training and is UKAS accredited. The department is fully equipped with new equipment.
