You will be an experienced practice nurse supporting with all aspects ofnursing care and improving on the safety and quality of patient care at everyopportunity.
To maintain a high professional standard of nursing care in adherence toall Practice protocols/policies & guidelines, as well as to provide nursingassistance to the GPs and other members of the primary healthcare team.
You will be supported by the clinical team and work with the widerclinical team to deliver holistic care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities
To assist and perform routinenursing tasks related to patient care, such as routine BP checks, ECG, sutureand clip removal, BMI and lifestyle advice..
To support and signpost patients toimprove and maintain their mental, physical, behavioural health and wellbeingby using behaviour change interventions, such as undertaking health checks(physical and mental),
To undertake adult NHS immunisationprogrammes and ensure vaccines/injections are administrated under patient groupdirectives or patient specific direction.
To undertake administration ofprescribed medicines via oral, IM, SC routes, following competency basedtraining and practice policy.
To undertake the collection ofpathological & microbiology specimens including venepuncture, swabs, urineculture in line with local guidelines
To support chronic diseasemanagement including monitoring patients with stable asthma, undertakingpreliminary investigations for Type 2 diabetes patients, such as foot checks.
To provide general health promotioneducation, advice on national screening programs and guide/refer patients toappropriate services.
In line with national guidanceundertake screening programs such as cervical screening tests.
To undertake any investigatorytest, such as Ambulatory BP monitoring, automated Dopplers and Spirometry,taking basic history and referring patients to relevant clinician forinterpretation/ planning of care.
To be able to provide appropriateself care advice for patients presenting with minor illness within own level ofcompetency, referring to GP/ANP whereappropriate.
Chaperone and assist patients whereappropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
To assist GPs with minor surgeryand well women procedures.
To maintain effective infectioncontrol measures in line with local guidelines and practice policy.
To be able to recognise and manageanaphylaxis, according to the current UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.
To be able to performCardio-pulmonary resuscitation (BLS) and the correct use of AutomatedDefibrillator following training, according to the current UK ResuscitationCouncil guidelines.
To engage in the support thetraining of nursing and medical students, and newly appointed colleagues.
