Job Overview: This role focuses on coordinating vehicle maintenance, inspections, and compliance while ensuring transport activities run smoothly to support field operations. The position is critical in maintaining fleet safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Working Hours & Location Salary: £31,000 per annum Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (07.30am-16.00pm) Location: Leyland, Lancashire Holidays: 24 days bank holidays. Key Responsibilities: Schedule and coordinate vehicle maintenance, servicing, MOTs, and safety inspections Maintain accurate records of fleet activity, including servicing history, inspections, and compliance documentation Liaise with drivers, engineers, and internal/external garages to ensure vehicles are available and operational Monitor fleet availability and proactively plan downtime for maintenance and repairs Ensure all vehicles meet legal and company compliance standards (e.g., inspections, permits, certifications) Track and manage defect reports, ensuring timely resolution Process and manage transport-related documentation, including job sheets, service records, and invoices Respond to internal queries regarding vehicle availability, maintenance schedules, and transport issues Assist in analysing fleet performance and identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements Key Skills & Qualifications: Previous experience in transport, fleet administration, or logistics (preferably within utilities or a field-based environment) Strong organisational and scheduling skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Knowledge of vehicle maintenance processes, inspections, and compliance requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and fleet/transport management systems Excellent communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers High attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping Personal Attributes: Proactive and able to anticipate operational needs Strong problem-solving skills Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Team-oriented with a flexible approach What you will get in return: In joining Sapphire Utility Solutions as part of the Lanes Group - the UK’s largest independent provider, we are committed to fostering a workplace culture that prioritises the well-being, growth, and safety of our employees.
